Home Automation Electrician on the Sunshine Coast

Modernising older C-Bus systems and designing new smart home installations for homes and businesses across the Sunshine Coast, without replacing what's already working.

Modern Function with Your Existing Network

A C-Bus system that’s still working properly doesn’t need to come out just to get modern features. In most cases the existing network stays put while the switches and control hardware get brought up to date.

Intelligent Automation’s home automation electricians work all across the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and Gympie, upgrading older C-Bus systems and designing newer installations for homes and businesses. A C-Bus system that’s still working properly doesn’t need to come out just to get modern features.

In most cases the existing network stays put while switches, control hardware and programming get brought up to date. That applies whether you’re after app control for an older system or a full smart home design from scratch. New Switches But Same Network

Ageing wall switches tend to be the most visible sign of an older C-Bus system, and one of the simpler things to fix. Current-generation eDLT switches, in the Saturn and Saturn Zen finishes, swap out dated switch plates while running on the same C-Bus network underneath. The home gets a more up-to-date look without any rewiring, since the new hardware’s built to sit alongside what’s already there.

App Control & Remote Access

Modern C-Bus hardware, including the 5500AC2, brings smartphone control to your home that used to rely on wall switches and touchscreens alone. That means checking whether the house is locked down before a trip, or adjusting a setting from another room, all from your phone. Existing scenes and schedules carry across as part of the upgrade, so nothing needs to be rebuilt from scratch or reconfigured just to add app access.

Comfort Beyond Lighting

Upgrading a C-Bus system isn’t only about lighting. Air conditioning, ceiling and exhaust fans, and motorised blinds or curtains can all run through the same control system, so one scene can adjust lighting, temperature and blinds together rather than juggling three separate remotes.

Some current SpaceLogic C-Bus switches also read temperature and humidity, which opens up even more responsive comfort control than older hardware ever could.

Upgrading Hardware Where Needed

Where C-Bus dimmers or relay units are old or limited, they can be swapped for current SpaceLogic C-Bus equipment while the rest of the network stays untouched. It’s a targeted fix rather than a full system replacement, addressing whatever’s actually holding the house back from modern features. This is usually the path for homes chasing app control or added comfort functions without wanting a full rewire.

New Smart Home Installations

As home automation electricians, we also design new C-Bus systems for new builds, renovations and extensions — lighting control design, switchboard and control panel layout, and DALI integration where it’s needed. Air conditioning and blind integration get built in from the start instead of bolted on later, along with full programming and commissioning. This covers homes and small commercial fit-outs across the South East, including the Sunshine Coast, Gympie and Brisbane.

C-Bus FAQ

Can you upgrade part of a C-Bus system without replacing it all?

Yes. C-Bus is designed so individual components, such as switches, relays or dimmers, can be replaced or added without needing to replace the entire network. This means a home can move to modern switches, app control or additional functions like blind and HVAC integration while keeping the existing wiring and network infrastructure in place.

What’s the difference between C-Bus and SpaceLogic C-Bus?

SpaceLogic C-Bus is Schneider Electric’s current generation of C-Bus hardware, designed to work within the same open C-Bus network as older equipment.

Older C-Bus installations can generally have SpaceLogic components added or used as replacements without needing the network itself to be redesigned, since the underlying protocol has remained consistent across hardware generations.

Can C-Bus control air conditioning and blinds as well as lighting?

Yes. C-Bus is a broader home and building automation platform, and lighting is only one part of what it can manage.

Air conditioning, ceiling and exhaust fans, and motorised blinds or curtains can all be integrated into the same system, allowing a single setting or schedule to adjust multiple building functions at once, instead of switching each one on its own.
