C-Bus Lighting Control on the Sunshine Coast

Specialist lighting design and C-Bus installation for homes and businesses across the Sunshine Coast, matching fittings, drivers and control systems so your lighting works as intended.

Complete Lighting Systems

Most lighting problems trace back to one thing: the fitting, the dimmer and the driver were never actually chosen to work together. Intelligent Automation designs and installs C-Bus lighting control for homes and businesses right across the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and Gympie.

We handle the entire job so everything’s matched up before it goes anywhere near the wall. Give us a call on 0428 068 582 to talk through what you’ve got in mind

DALI & C-Bus Lighting Control

Bigger jobs like offices, conference rooms or multi-zone homes can run on DALI as well as C-Bus. DALI talks to each fitting individually, while C-Bus handles the bigger picture: scenes, schedules, how lighting fits in with everything else in the building.

We plan this out before any cabling goes in, so the system doesn’t get pieced together on site once installation’s underway.

RGBW & Tunable White Lighting

RGBW and tunable-white fittings let a room shift in colour and warmth throughout the day, or change completely for an event or mood, all through C-Bus or DALI control. We fit these into new and existing systems and match the driver and control module carefully, since colour-changing fittings are more sensitive to a poor match than a standard dimmable downlight. It’s a common upgrade for entertaining areas and feature walls.

Flicker-Free LED Dimming

Flickering or jumpy dimming almost always comes down to the LED driver and the C-Bus dimmer not agreeing with each other, not a faulty dimmer on its own.

We check for this before any fittings go in, and we also get called out for C-Bus repairs or faults in systems we didn’t originally install. Get the pairing right from the start and you won’t need our help again in six months with flickering or uneven dimming.

Low-Glare & Circadian Lighting

Some lighting is meant to be seen; some is meant to disappear into the background and just do its job. Low-glare architectural downlights suit C-Bus-controlled homes where lighting doesn’t need to draw attention to itself.

Circadian lighting goes a step further, shifting brightness and colour temperature through the day to follow natural light instead of sitting on one setting. Both run through the same C-Bus scenes and schedules as the rest of your house.

Feature & Architectural Lighting

Lighting a rock wall or a garden feature isn’t the same as lighting a room: different beam angles and different dimming, usually on its own C-Bus circuit. We design and install feature lighting for facades and landscaping across the Sunshine Coast, working out what it takes to get the effect right at night without glare or hot spots ruining it.

New-Build & Renovation Lighting

Planning lighting into a build from the start avoids reworking circuits and control layouts once the walls are closed in. We work directly with homeowners, architects and builders on new-build and renovation lighting: on selecting the right fittings, circuit layout, DALI/C-Bus programming  and right through to commissioning. This applies to both houses and small commercial fit-outs right across the Sunshine Coast.

Novotel Twin Waters

At the Novotel Twin Waters, we installed DALI and C-Bus lighting control for the conference rooms, where hotel staff needed to run a fairly sophisticated system without any technical training.

We simplified the interface down to single-touch scene selections, while the DALI and C-Bus programming handled dimming, zoning and scene changes behind the scenes. It’s a good example of what the control side of a lighting job should feel like for the person actually using it day to day.

More Than Light Fitters

A C-Bus lighting installation only works properly when everything — the fitting, the driver, the dimmer and the programming — is treated as one job, not four separate pieces handed to different trades. We handle lighting design, DALI/C-Bus programming and fitting selection together, which is usually why our installations don’t run into the flicker, dimming and compatibility problems. It applies just as much to a single-room upgrade as a full commercial fit-out.

C-Bus FAQ

What is the difference between C-Bus and DALI lighting control?

C-Bus is a broader building and home automation system. It can run lighting alongside things like air conditioning and blinds. DALI is specifically for lighting, talking to individual drivers and fittings. The two are often paired together, with DALI managing the lighting itself and C-Bus handling scenes, scheduling and how it all fits with the rest of the building.

Can LED downlights cause flickering with dimmer switches?

Yes, and it’s more common than people expect. Flickering usually comes from a mismatch between the driver built into the LED fitting and the dimmer controlling it, rather than either part being faulty on its own. Not every LED fitting is designed to work with every type of dimmer, so a flicker or a limited dimming range often points to compatibility rather than a broken product.

What is circadian lighting and how does it work?

Circadian lighting changes colour temperature and brightness across the day to match natural daylight — cooler and brighter in the morning, warmer and dimmer by evening. It runs on a lighting-control system following pre-set schedules or scenes, so the change happens automatically rather than needing someone to adjust it by hand.
